Hiriyara Jaatre is an annual fest organized by V The Volunteers (VTVO) under the initiative Elders Adda. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating senior citizens from various old age homes. The event includes one-minute games, competitions, and other engaging activities designed to bring joy and entertainment to our elderly guests.

Volunteers at Hiriyara Jaatre take on various roles, you can choose to be part of any:

  • Assisting with event setup and decoration.

  • Helping senior citizens participate in games, competitions, sports and stage performances.

  • Serving food and snacks.

  • Providing general assistance and support to ensure guests are comfortable and enjoying themselves.

  • Managing the registration and check-in process etc
     

4. Do I need any special skills or qualifications to volunteer?

No special skills or qualifications are required. However, having a friendly, patient, and compassionate attitude is essential when working with senior citizens. Training and guidance will be provided to ensure you are comfortable with your assigned tasks.

5. What should I wear to the event?

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for moving around and assisting with various activities. VTVO will provide you with a volunteer T-shirt on the day of the event. Comfortable shoes are recommended as you may be on your feet for extended periods.

6. Can I bring friends or family members to volunteer with me?

Absolutely! We encourage you to bring friends and family who are interested in volunteering. They can sign up through the same process and will be assigned tasks based on their preferences and availability.

7. How do I get to the event location, and is transportation provided?

The event location and transportation details will be shared with you after you register as a volunteer. We usually organize carpooling or provide information on public transport routes to ensure everyone can reach the venue easily.

8. Will food and beverages be provided to volunteers?

Yes, volunteers will be provided with meals and refreshments throughout the day. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or preferences in advance.

9. What time should I arrive, and how long will the event last?

Volunteers are usually asked to arrive an hour before the event starts for a briefing and to help with setup. The event typically lasts for about 6-8 hours, including setup and cleanup. Exact timings will be communicated to you closer to the event date.

Familiarize yourself with the event schedule and your assigned tasks. Attend any pre-event meetings or training sessions. If possible, learn a bit about the games and activities to assist participants more effectively.
